TESTS & REVIEWS
We understand that trust is earned, and on this page, you will find subjective tests and reviews of our products from popular magazines and test centres known widely around the globe.
We go through the two AK foil board ranges.
Constructions, model changes, sizes, sweet spots and strengths; we’ve ridden it all and go through it all….

When unpacking, the Compact wingboard with its low weight is striking. It has a wide nose and thick profile with
a tail kick at the end. The high apex rails are striking; the board gets narrower from the deck downwards…

Combining the light weight and stiff connection I feel under my feet, the Phazer v1, and now the v2, have proved excellent partners for whatever foil I’m wanting to use it with on any day, seemingly in any conditions.
– WING SURF WORLD
AK have pulled out all the stops for the Compact and produced a board that’s well designed and very tailored to the freestyle (winging) task. It complements the Phazer perfectly for the ambitious rider…
– THE FOILING MAG
In our opinion, Wingfoiling is all about feeling of freedom and playing with the elements. The Phazer V2 greatly enhances this feeling, something we have never experienced so intensely before. That of course results in a big smile on our face 🙂

Ether Harness
I’m blown away time and time again by how this little package can deliver such enjoyable sessions. It’s minimalist, compact, comfortable, stylish, and travels like a champion. I’m happy that the simple graphic and minimalist design will be timeless since I plan to be using mine for a long time to come!

AK Phazer vs Compact: After a good few months testing the AK hydrofoil boards, this is a review going over their strengths and characteristics for anyone wanting to know how they work for wingsurfing.

Synth Harness
This is a must-try harness with comfort levels that took us completely by surprise! With the support of a hard-shell and the comfort of a soft-shell, this harness has quickly become the first one that gets picked up when packing the car for a session. Paired with the carbon Aerobar, it’s a hard to beat combo!

The AK Plasma system is unassuming, simple to assemble and extremely performant. It’s a flexible discipline-spanning modular system particularly suited to crossover riders who flick between surf, SUP, wing or even kite, thriving in a range of situations.
– THE FOIL MAG
Even though the 850 is the smallest wing in the Tracer line, it holds true to the goal of offering both ease of use and higher-speed performance and maneuverability. If faster kitefoiling wings can sometimes be more challenging, the Tracer makes going fast a bit more intuitive and controlled while leaving enough performance on the table for those who want to push boundaries.
– THE KITEBOARDER
You only have to scroll through the Tonic Mag Instagram a bit to see that I’ve been frothing on this foil for a long time now. At this stage, I find it hard to believe I’ll find a foil that is so versatile and so good at each discipline. I prone, wing and dock start the Plasma regularly. With all 3 sizes in your quiver, the 1000, 1300, & 1600, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the range of conditions available to you.

At first, we weren’t quite sure of what to make of the Ether, except that it clearly excelled for travel and packing up nice and tight. The more we rode the Ether, the more we became connected to this piece of hardware (software?) because its minimal approach to the harness is refreshing. If the conventional harnesses of today ever make you feel like you’re wearing an inflatable donut around your waist, the Ether will take you back to being svelte, slim and minimal.

Carbon Aerobar
It’s simple, clean, and extremely functional. It doesn’t simply look snazzy, the seatbelt system is very satisfying to engage and disengage, and it almost feels like living in the future of harness design. And, of course, it’s strong, safe, and reliable. It’s exciting to see kite brands and accessory brands doing something different, especially if it works. This isn’t a gimmick; it’s a damn cool piece of harness tech that is 100% worth a try!

Ether Harness
Ether waist harness and Carbon Aerobar review. The Ether harness is a lightweight, compact harness, that prioritizes comfort and durability. The Ether is designed to work with all AK spreader bar systems, allowing the harness to be used by all riders no matter the discipline.

The AK Phazer was an absolute pleasure to ride. It’s clear that it has been incredibly well tested and developed. That’s no surprise when you see the professional riders working on their team, Zane Schweitzer and Alex Pastor, to name a few. If you choose the size correctly, this board can reach several of your foil riding sports, which is a real bonus.
– TONIC MAGAZINE
Ideal feel for strapped and strapless performance riding, while making life just easy enough for advancing intermediates to still make progress. If you’re over 85 kilos, the 5’8’’ (90L) might be the right step down for you and have all the performance benefits.
– WINGSURFWORLD
Currently, the Phazer stands out from the rest of the wingfoil board brigade with its more traditional surf lines and is all the better for it. It is an exercise in elegant design in a boxy and wide market segment and AK have succeeded in creating an agile and very capable wing board with decent crossover prone potential.
