AK Nomad Foilboard
Lightwind Wingboard & Downwind Crossover Foilboard.
The all-new Nomad is an intuitive and stable lightwind wingboard and downwind crossover foilboard with effortless gliding capabilities. Perfect for catching long drawn out waves, downwinding, or getting up on the foil in the lightest wind with your wing.
The Nomad concept was centered around building the ultimate lightwind wing board, but versatile enough to use as a surf, paddle-up, and downwind SUP. We knew that if we could get a certain amount of glide speed, you would be able to pop up onto foil. We also wanted a board that was very comfortable off foil as we believed that anybody who was chasing light wind would most likely spend a fair amount of time off foil.
With its optimized length and width, the Nomad features a parallel outline, volume distributed for flight, and a forward foil position that will allow you to keep the same stance as you paddle for take-off, and get up on the foil.
We knew we could get even more glide from an even longer and narrower board, but our key point was making a wingboard with crossover capabilities. One of our design fundamentals is to “make everything as multifunction and versatile as possible, without undermining the core function”. So, we optimized the length so that once you were up on foil, the Nomad is still a very fun and playful board to pump around on.
The Nomad also has footstrap inserts, which makes the board a lot easier to use for the intermediate rider when winging, and much easier to go really fast. We have also added deck reinforcing for the increased durability needed when winging.
Nomad Strap & Insert Positions:
The Nomad features reinforced footstrap inserts with a number of different forwards or backwards positions, with a 2.5cm (1”) spacing. This enables the rider to be further forwards or backwards on the board, relative to their preferred stance width and foil position.
The front strap has the option of being mounted centered, slightly offset, or with a double or single strap at a 45-degree angle. The rear strap can be mounted over the centerline of the board, or offset to the left or right. This insert pattern allows for left or right foot forward riding off to one side of the deck or a single strap angled slightly over the centerline.
The US Box foil mount on the bottom deck allows for quick and easy assembly and micro trim adjustment. These inserts are compatible with any standard 9 x 16.5cm foil plate system and are connected through to the deck of the board with high density inserts.
Kitting: The Nomad is shipped standard with 1 x single Ether footstrap, and 1 x Ether V footstrap.
Recommended Footstrap Screws: M6 self-tapping screws, 22 – 28mm long, depending on the thickness of your straps.
